HostExcellence: Upcoming Data Center Maintenance – June 4, 2015 & June 5, 2015

On Thursday, June 4th, 2015, from 8PM-4AM EST (Thursday night through Friday morning) and again on Friday, June 5th, 2015 from 8PM-4AM EST (Friday night through Saturday morning), we will be conducting maintenance on our data center power systems.

During this maintenance, performed every 7 years, we will replace the AC capacitors and cooling fans in each of the Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS) providing battery backup service in our datacenter.  In case of commercial power loss, the UPS provide power to bridge the time between loss of commercial power and the startup of our diesel generators.

For approximately 6-8 hours during the maintenance window, all servers affected by this UPS maintenance will be running directly on generator power without UPS protection.

If there is a commercial power failure during the maintenance window, there should be no impact since we’ll be running on generator power. However, in the unlikely event of a systems power failure, all servers that are supplied power by or that are connected to that UPS may fail. However, our Cloud hosting and control panel environments along with core switching and routing, are dual power fed and should continue to be supplied with clean power from other UPS not affected by this maintenance, which will remain online.

HostExcellence: Credit Card Transaction Issue

Our credit card processor, authorize.net, has reported an outage that has temporarily resulted in our inability to process any credit card charges or refunds. They are working to correct this outage as quickly as possible.

We will alert you when their outage has concluded and all payments will be able to be processed at that time.

Paypal and Alipay transactions are unaffected by this temporary issue.

Update:  Authorize.net reports that they have implemented a  solution.  All of our transactions are processing normally.  However, their status blog reports some degraded services so we are keeping this blog post open for now.
