DreamHost: Emergency Network Maintenance on Sub5 Mail Cluster – July 26th, 5PM PDT (4 hours)

This Tuesday July 26th, our network engineering team will be performing an emergency maintenance on a switch in our Sub5 mail cluster in order to restore optimal performance. This is a 4 hour maintenance, and will require approximately 1 to 2 minutes of downtime in order to complete. Any mail sent during this maintenance window will not be affected, however there is a small chance of mail bouncing if you send or receive any emails during the uplink transition from the old to new switch. All mail sent throughout the rest of the maintenance will be delivered, but there may be delays. To determine if your mail is handled on the above sub-cluster, please click on the Data Centers page in your DreamHost web panel. We will update this post with new information as it becomes available.

If you have any issues unrelated to this maintenance please contact support from your web panel.

UPDATE July 26, 2016 12:05 PM PDT:  This maintenance is being rescheduled to 5pm PDT today, and we will update this post again to confirm when it has begun. Thank you for your patience and understanding!

DreamHost: Intermittent Mail Connectivity Issues & Delays on homiemail-sub3

This morning we have again noticed extremely high loads on our homiemail-sub5 and homiemail-sub3 email clusters. While we’ve recently replaced a saturated switch and other hardware for Sub5, we unfortunately are not seeing the positive results stick like we hoped. Our technical operations and admin teams are again working around the clock to correct the source of the load on Sub5 and restore regular functionality as quickly as possible. If your email is hosted on Sub5, you may expect intermittent connectivity issues via webmail and other mail clients.

If your email is hosted on Sub3, you may expect to receive email with a slight delay today. These clusters have the full attention of our staff today, and we will update this post again as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience!

To determine if your mail is handled on the above sub-cluster, please click on the Data Centers page in your DreamHost web panel and look for the cluster name shown there.

If you have any issues during this period, or questions in the meantime, please contact support from your web panel.

UPDATE July 26, 2016 7:30 PM PDT: The delays on homiemail-sub3 continue to get shorter. We anticipate being caught up within the next few hours.

UPDATE July 26, 2016 2:00 PM PDT:  The delays on Sub3 are getting shorter as the mail queue catches up. We expect it to be caught up by later this afternoon, at which point all machines in that cluster will be back in rotation. As a reminder, our technical operations team will be performing an emergency network maintenance, today, July 26th, at 5 PM PDT. You can read more about it here: Emergency Network Maintenance on Sub5 Mail Cluster, July 26th, 5PM PDT

We will be updating that post during the maintenance. Your patience with us is appreciated.

We will be updating that post during the maintenance. We thank you for your patience!

UPDATE July 25, 2016 7:15 PM PDT: The delays on homiemail-sub3 have been cleared. Thank you for your patience while we worked on this.  The load on the homiemail-sub5 machines has dropped significantly but it is still higher than optimal so we are not willing to call that one resolved as of yet.

UPDATE July 25, 2016 4:25 PM PDT:  The cause of the delays on homiemail-sub3 have been resolved, but there is still some slowness as the system works through mail queued during the issues. We are continuing to work on homiemail-sub5, but you may still see issues with connectivity while using both webmail and your email program.
