DreamHost: Connection issues with a limited number of machines handling email on servers homiemail-sub4 and homiemail-sub5 (RESOLVED)

Our admins are currently working on some of the machines that serve our mail service on homiemail-sub4 and homiemail-sub5. A few machines on each service are responding slowly, which is causing issues for some customers with sending and receiving mail, and with connecting to webmail.

We will update this post with more information and let you know when it is resolved. In the meantime, if you have any questions or concerns, please contact support and let us know.

Update March 31, 2015, 10:26 PM PDT: Our admins have now confirmed the problems on homiemail-sub4 have also been resolved! The trouble was due to NFS mounts to the filers locking up in such a way that it caused IMAP processes to hang. Thank you for your continued patience while we worked to get this resolved.

Update March 31, 2015, 8:45 PM PDT: Our admins have been successful with alleviating the problems on homiemail-sub5. They continue to work on  homiemail-sub4. To check your mail cluster, please go to panel.dreamhost.com and click on “Account Status” in the upper right-hand corner.

DreamHost: Scheduled DreamCompute Maintenance – Apr. 2nd 10AM PST (8 hrs)

On Thursday April 2nd starting at 10AM, our cloud engineering team will be working with one of our networking vendors to upgrade the operating system on the network switches. The team identified this network gear as a likely cause of the intermittent slowness to some DreamCompute instances. Your instance will be temporarily unavailable while its switch is upgraded and rebooted.

We will closely monitor the maintenance and will be posting periodic updates. This maintenance only affects DreamCompute.

HostExcellence: Upcoming Nameserver Maintenance – March 26, 2015 – 10PM EDT

In order to maintain quality service, our administrators are moving control7.hostexcellence.com and control8.hostexcellence.com off of physical machines and on to Virtual Machines. Control panel access will be switched off while the control panel database is being updated. This will only affect customers on control panel 4. You can find out what control panel you are located on by clicking on ‘Manage’ underneath your hosting account. The URL will begin with ‘control4′, at the top of your browser.
