DreamHost: Scheduled load balancer upgrade – February 4th 8PM PST (3 hrs)

On Wednesday, February 4th from 8:00PM to 11:00PM PST, our engineering team will be upgrading the load balancers* in front of the Panel, Webmail, and Whois services. The upgraded systems will increase capacity for concurrent users and improve reliability, as well as improved support for modern web encryption standards.

The cutover will be almost instantaneous, and we expect your access to these services to remain consistent, though there is a possibility the services will be temporarily unavailable during the maintenance window.

All of your websites will be unaffected by this maintenance. We previously attempted this upgrade on Wednesday January 28th, but due to some unexpected backend configurations decided to roll back. Our systems engineers have addressed their initial concerns, and we’re ready to perform the upgrade.

 *Load balancers ensure reliability and availability by monitoring the “health” of applications and only sending requests to servers and applications that can respond in a timely manner.

DreamHost: Scheduled DreamObjects Maintenance – February 2nd 10AM PST (48 hrs)

On Tuesday, February 2nd from 10am to Thursday, February 4th 10am, our Cloud Engineering team will be expanding the storage capacity of DreamObjects by two petabytes. As part of the capacity expansion, data will be redistributed throughout the entire cluster of servers. During the maintenance window, uploading and downloading content to and from DreamObjects could be intermittently inaccessible. However, your data stored in DreamObjects is safe.

We will closely monitor the maintenance and will be posting periodic updates. This maintenance only affects the DreamObjects service.
