DreamHost: Shared web server ‘jakarta’ will be offline at 9PM PST for scheduled maintenance (RESOLVED)

The shared web server ‘jakarta’  is currently experiencing an issue with the RAID, which manifests as the /home partition on the server becoming read-only. Details regarding this can be found in our previous post that was created earlier today.

We will start the failover to new hardware at 9PM PST tonight. We will make sure to continue to keep this post updated with its progress and further information.

Update Nov 30th, 10:30pm PST: Our admins have reported that the services to the server matar are now restored. There were some issues with the replacement of the original hardware which held up resolution, but that have now been fixed and sites are responding smoothly. If there are any problems with your services on matar please let support know. – JJ G

DreamHost: Shared web server ‘jakarta’ having hardware issues (RESOLVED)

We are very sorry that we did not post this sooner, as we have been aware of hardware issues on the shared web server ‘jakarta’. Our Admin team identified an issue with the RAID for this server, which manifests as the /home partition on the server becoming read-only. The solution to this in the short term is a reboot of the server. However, when this issue was found, we began preparing new hardware for this server! That process has been underway for several days and we expect it to be completed soon!

We understand that these reboots are a hindrance and we are working to resolve this with a full hardware swap as soon as possible. We will post to this status blog again when the actual hardware change happens, with all relevant information.

At approximately 3:50 PM CT, our Engineers identified an issue with white label DNS. Customers using white label DNS may have trouble with name resolution as a result of this. We are working diligently to resolve this issue.

Update: As of 4:35 PM CT, this issue has been resloved and service has been restored.

Update: At 4:45 PM CT, this service has experienced another problem and is again causing delays and failures in DNS name resolution. Our Engineers are working on a resolution for this issue.

Update: As of 6:00 PM CT, the underlying issue has been addressed and the problem corrected. All services should be restored and stable at this time.
